Lewis Ritchey, age 84, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at Aultman Hospital, Monday, June 17, 2019 after an extended illness.
Lewis was born December 29, 1934 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Adele and John Ritchey. He was the eldest of four children.
Lewis attended Ohio University until his father's death, he then returned home to manage the family business, the Millersburg Ice Plant. He remained active in the plant with his brother Phil until his retirement.
He had been very active in Village and County government roles. Served on Holmes County Planning Commission from 1978 to 1995, being President 1982-83, and 1994. He also served on Millersburg Village Council for a number of years, with involvement in other facets of local government.
He is survived by his companion of 60 years, Betty Patterson; brothers, Jim (Pat) Ritchey and Phil (Louise) Ritchey; a sister, Alice Warshaw; nieces, Laurel Stokes, Diana Ritchey, Heather Ritchey-Snow, Adrienne Ritchey; nephews, Jeff (Caiti) Ritchey, Kevin (Sue) Ritchey; and grand nieces and nephews, Grace, James, Colleen, Matt and Garrett Ritchey, Alyssa Stokes, and Jordan, Meredith and Nora Snow. He enjoyed being "Uncle Lew". He is also survived by a special couple, Betty's daughter and son-in-law, Trae and John Kropf.
In his earlier years, Louie loved horse racing - owning several trotters, trips to Vegas, flying and life in general. He was a member of St Peter's Catholic Church in Millersburg. He was a loving, kind individual and will be missed by many.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St Peter's Catholic Church with Father Ronald J. Aubry officiating.
