Karen L. Barnhart, age 71, of St Petersburg, Florida passed away December 16, 2017 at Bay Front Hospital following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Nashville United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Nashville Cemetery. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her name to the Holmes County District Public Library or to Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Petersburg, Florida. 
Karen was born June 12, 1946 in Ashland, Ohio and was the daughter Robert R. and Forrest E. (Drake) Byrd. 
Karen worked 30 years at the Ohio State University Extension Service. Her passion was working in the human service field. She spent her last 10 years assisting vets at Bay Pines V.A. Karen was a member of Millersburg Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and admiring God's creation. Karen was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving is her husband, Leland "Skip" Barnhart; and her daughter, Mary L. Barnhart. She was preceded in death by her parents.
