John David Kandel, 66, of Berlin, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12th, 2017. Born February 18th, 1951 and Millersburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Homer and Dorothy Kandel. He was preceded in death by a brother Howard Kandel; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Glenn and Oneta Immel. He is survived by a loving wife Betty Kandel and their children Michelle (Eric) Hysong, Dustin (Stacy), John II (Elizabeth) and Errol (Becky); 12 grandchildren; siblings Arelene, Miriam, Glen, Mary Beth, Jerry and Larry; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Hiland High School and began working at a very young age along side his father at the Berlin General Store. He continued there as it transitioned into Kandel's Hardware. He joyfully served as a Township Trustee for many years. He also enjoyed fishing at Pelee Island and taking pictures of his beloved family and the great Outdoors. He had a servants heart and was honored to serve his community throughout his life.
Pastor Jim Jamison will officiate a 11 a.m. service on Thursday November 16th, 2017 at Millersburg Baptist Church of Millersburg, Ohio. Burial will be at Berlin Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday November 15th, 2017 at Millersburg Baptist Church.
