Gene Rodney Hawkins, age 80, of Brinkhaven, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Country Court Nursing Center, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Mike Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Stillwell, Ohio where Military Rites will be conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Gene was born July 21, 1937 in Stillwell, Ohio and was the son of Harve and Grace (Haines) Hawkins. He married Helen Hensel and she survives.
Gene worked in the Timber Industry for 60 years and was the owner and operator of Gene Hawkins Logging. He participated in lumberjack shows for many years. He was an active member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church. Gene was a veteran of the US Army. He was also a member of Gnat Boxer Western Square Dance Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Helen are foster children, Adam Wade, Tiffanie Eilmes, Jennifer Abbott all of Atlanta, GA; 3 foster grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Chris) Hawkins of Brinkhaven; a sister, Gladis Galford of Brinkhaven; and nephews, Brent (Kitty) Mohler, Bart (Jan) Mohler, Brian (Heidi) Galford, Rusty (Bobbi) Hawkins, Matthew (Laura) Hawkins and Andrew (Jess) Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Grace Hawkins.
