Bernadine Fern (Giauque) Large, age 81, of Killbuck, Ohio went to be with the Lord and joined one of her favorite sister's, Lanie Buren on Monday morning, July 10, 2017 at her home following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Rev. Gene Speich officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Bernadine was born August 15, 1935 in Stillwell, Ohio and was the daughter of Frank and Martha (Fortune) Giauque. On October 7, 1950 she married James William Large and he survives.
Bernadine was a home maker and a pastor's wife. She worked side by side with her husband at many family owned businesses; L&L Motors, L&L Wells, Hilltop Auto Parts and Hilltop Speedway, where she enjoyed watching her husband, sons and grandchildren race. She was an avid Dirt Track race fan and also a baseball fan, sponsoring her son's team for several years. Bernadine was a member of Spring Mountain Chapel, where she was a past Secretary and Treasurer. One of her favorite things to do was dining at Kentucky Fried Chicken with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband James are 5 children, Janet (Bill) Ewings of Warsaw, Bev Large of Killbuck, Jack (Vickie) Large of Conesville, James "Jim" (Lisa) Large Jr. of Killbuck and John (Marie) Large of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren, Daniel (Cherisa) Hodges, Amy (Ernie) Sheldon, Jill Woods, Steve (Jennifer) Large, Nichole (Stan) Braxton, Stephanie Large, Zack Large, Livia Large, Nicholas Large and Evan Large; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin Franklin (Dolly) Giauque Jr. of Killbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 11 siblings; and a grandson, Douglas Hodges.
