"Together Again"

Margaret Mae (Patterson) Bucklew, age 100 of Killbuck, Ohio passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at Majora Lane Nursing Home, Millersburg, Ohio.

 

Margaret was born March 21, 1922, in Mechanic Twp., Holmes County, Ohio and was the daughter of Fred and L Vada (Shaffer) Patterson. She married Raymond Bucklew on July 26, 1941. They had almost celebrated 64 years of a happy marriage before he preceded her in death on April 20, 2005. She spent her entire life in the Killbuck area. She graduated from Killbuck High School in 1939 and was the last surviving member of her class that consisted of 17 pupils. Margaret was a member of the Killbuck United Methodist Church where she was Membership Secretary for 35 years, U.M.W. Secretary for many years and was a greeter for Sunday School for five years. Margaret was active in the Phi Sigma Gamma Sorority for over 50 years and held several offices. She was a member of the former Jolly Housekeepers Club, a former member of Killbuck Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of Killbuck Lions Club and was a caller for Early Bingo at the Darb Snyder Senior Center for 5 years. She volunteered for five years at the gift shop in Pomerene Hospital and also at the Killbuck Museum. She worked in the factory at Rice Chadwick Rubber Shop and retired as a receptionist after 30 years. Margaret loved to travel and for several years spent the month of October at Myrtle Beach after her and her husband both retired. She loved to embroider quilt tops then hand quilted them. She enjoyed crochet, writing letters and cards, and playing euchre with her three grandsons. She liked to cook, listen to country and polka music, and she loved her kitty cat, Tommy.

 

Margaret is survived by a son, Paul (Susie) Bucklew of Walbridge, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Diana Patterson of Fleming Island, Florida; 10 grandchildren: Lynn Arnold of Killbuck, Ohio, Laurisa Arnold of Millersburg, Ohio, Jennifer (Chris) Tober of Curtice, Ohio, Jeff (Valerie) Bucklew of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jay Bucklew of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Joanna (Roy) Sorrell of Millbury, Ohio, James Bucklew of Toledo, Ohio, Ryan (Kelsie) Patterson of Crawfordsville, Florida, Brett (Sarah) Patterson of North Carolina and Tanya Marsh of Orange Park, Florida; 19 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren and one more on the way.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; two sisters and their spouses: Pearl (Elmer) Lance and Lois (Tom) Emmons; her daughter, Laura Arnold, and a son, Wayne Patterson.

 

The family wishes to express a huge thank you to both Walnut Hills retirement center and to Majora Lane for all of the love, support and wonderful care that was given to Margaret. Margaret wanted to add many thanks to all of her friends and neighbors: Marilyn Jones, Judy Price, Kathleen Patterson and Phyllis Smail for always being there for her over the years.

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Ken Smailes officiating.
