Gregory Earl Steele

Columbus – Gregory Earl Steele, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away November 4, 2022.  He was born in Holmes County, son of the late Richard E. and Vivian S. Steele.  In September 1967, he married Carol Mohler, and they recently celebrated 55 years of their love and companionship.  Greg attended The College of Wooster and The Ohio State University.  Greg’s love of technology resulted in a career of computers.  He spent 21 years at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, as a systems programmer and retired from The Ohio State University as a senior network engineer for OARnet, the internet supplier for the Colleges and Universities in Ohio.  Greg was an avid reader of science fiction and was quite proud of his extensive library. 

He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Churches (Millersburg & Columbus).  His love of OSU was obvious in his affiliations.  He was a member of The Ohio State University President’s Club, The Ohio State University Faculty Club, The Ohio State University Alumni Club, Script Ohio Club and his favorite, The Ohio State University Marching Band - TBDBITL Alumni Club.

He had a brilliant mind.  His dry sense of humor, quick wit, and deep cackling laugh will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his son Christopher (Jennifer) Steele of Reynoldsburg and grandchildren Brooke and Calvin, brother/sister-in-law, Ken & Pam Mohler and niece Lisa (Matt) Feikert & children, Taylor and Ethan of Millersburg and several cousins.

There will be no calling hours and Private Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg with Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating.  Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
