David Alexander Schonauer age 83 of Walnut Creek, Ohio and formerly of Killbuck, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Walnut Hills Retirement Home following a period of declining health.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Clifford Beck officiating. Burial will take place at Wolf Creek Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Friends may call from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

David was born March 3, 1937 in Killbuck, Ohio and was the son of John and Donna (Smail) Schonauer. On June 5, 1965 he married Margaret Sutherland who preceded him in death on October 20, 1988, he later married Esther (Brink) Zaugg in 1994 and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2019.
David worked 23 years for Buckeye Oil Producing and previously worked for Mason Drilling. He was a member of the Killbuck First Church of Christ. David was a veteran serving in the US Army. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching western movies and was a hunter in his younger years.
Surviving are two sons, Michael (April) Schonauer and Christopher (Lisa) Schonauer both of Millersburg, Ohio; stepchildren, Kimberly (Marc) Shepler of Millersburg, Kelly (Steve) Sigler of Big Prairie, Gary (Verla) Brink of Millersburg, Carl (Deb) Zaugg of Millersburg, Ronnie (Denise) Zaugg of Welcome and Donna (Rick) Greenough of Loudonville; four grandchildren, Brice and Adara Schonauer, Kaelin Nelson and Alex Sigler; numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Judy) Schonauer of Newark, Ohio, Susie (Paul) Bucklew of Walbridge, Ohio and Dwight Schonauer of Wooster, Ohio; sister-in-law, Pauline Schonauer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard Dean Schonauer and Atlee Schonauer; a sister, Erma Ackert; and a son, Brian Schonauer.
