Thomas H. Swisher, age 87, of Wooster, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Summa Akron City Hospital.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 4th at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio where Military Honors will be conducted by both the Killbuck VFW and the Millersburg American Legion. Thomas was born June 26, 1936 in Grafton, Ohio and was the son of Jay Twive and Norma Marie (Christ) Swisher. He married E. Jeanette Wiseman and she survives.
Thomas retired from sales at T&J Chemical Company. He then drove truck for Kauffman Bakery in Berlin for 17 years. Thomas was a member of Saint Mary's Church of Wooster. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. He took pride in serving his country. Thomas coached men's softball teams for many years. He enjoyed traveling, camping, spending winters in Texas and Florida, watching sports and History and liked feeding the birds.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years are two daughters and their spouses: Christine (Kevin) Gray of Orrville and Peggy (Kirk) Zimmerman of Shreve; grandchildren: Kendra (John) Gundrum of Killbuck, Steven (Hannah) Zimmerman of Colorado, Dawn (Blake) Wheeler of North Ridgeville, Shelby Gray of Wyoming and John Gray of Orrville: great grandchildren: Jocelyn, Mia, Laila, Adie, Julianna and Cora Zimmerman, twins Lauren and Craig Gundrum, and Ava and Caelynn Wheeler; sister-in-law, Barb Ansell of Vermilion; former daughter-in-law and her husband, Sandra Day Swisher (Frank) Baker of Killbuck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Pat Wolf, Rita Storrow, Don Swisher, Barbara Gibbons and Mary Paceley; and his son, Craig Swisher.
