Wilmer A. Strouse, age 90, of Glenmont, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Reverend Clifford Beck officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery with military rites being conducted by both the Millersburg American Legion and Killbuck VFW. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Wilmer was born May 23, 1927 in Glenmont, Ohio and was the son of Clifford and Mildred (Hawkins) Strouse. On June 6, 1950 he married Mary Elizabeth Singer and she preceded him in death on August 5, 1987.
Wilmer worked as a machinist for 33 years at Cooper Industrial of Mount Vernon, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St John's United Church of Christ. Wilmer was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Millersburg American Legion Post #192, a life member of the Killbuck VFW and was a past president of the Union Grove Cemetery Association.
He is survived by seven children, Steve (Mary) Strouse of Glenmont, Gary (Carol) Strouse of Millersburg, Alan Strouse of Glenmont, Linda (Ed) Schlauch of Glenmont, Greg (Cathy) Strouse of Glenmont, Kenneth (Inez) Strouse of Glenmont and Matt (Traci) Strouse of Big Prairie; 19 grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Strouse, Eric (Amanda) Strouse, Brian Strouse, Alison (David) Hustack, Dan Cool, David Cool, Neal Fry, Alisha (Owen) Beachy, Clay (McKayla) Strouse, Joey (Tausha) Strouse, Amy (Troy) Miller, Jenny (Chad) Wengerd, Tyler (Briana) Schlauch, Chad (Haley) Strouse, Elizabeth Strouse, Tiffany (Travis) Weber, Keshia (John) Singleton, Kayla (Adam) Forrer and Autumn Strouse; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Strouse of Springfield; a sister, Mary Louise Schopfer of Wooster; a sister-in-law, Karlene (Don) Croskey of Killbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson, Joseph Strouse; great granddaughter, Abri Schlauch; a great grandson, Cannon Weber; and longtime companion, JoAnn Snyder.
