William (Bill) R. Hummel

William (Bill) R. Hummel age 88 of Berlin, Ohio died Friday April 6,2018, after a brief stay at Walnut Hills Nursing Home.    Bill was born September 3, 1929 in Berlin, Ohio and was the son of William I. and Irene (Kaser) Hummel. He was married 64 years to Wilda (Sigler) Hummel. They were married on January 23,1954.     Bill worked 43 years for Holmes Limestone Co., retiring September of 1994.    He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and loved going mushroom hunting.    He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Berlin, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War and received the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of the Millersburg American Legion and the Killbuck VFW.    Bill was inducted into the Holmes County Sports Hall of Fame.    Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 children and their spouses, Rex and Rita Hummel of Berlin, Ohio, Brad and Wendy Hummel of Waterville, Ohio , and Terri and Carl Robinson of Absecon, New Jersey;    6 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Dawn Hummel, Shelli and Fredrick Farr, Gwen and Ryan Weikart, Derek and Valeria Hummel, Nate and Jenn Robinson and Luke and Nicole Robinson;    10 great-grandchildren, a brother and his wife, Randy and Nancy Hummel of Millersburg and a sister Kay Snyder of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a brother Maynard Hummel.     Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at The Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.     Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Wednesday at First Baptist church of Berlin with Pastor Tom Nye officiating.     Burial will be in the Berlin Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Millersburg American Legion.
