John Smetzer Sr

John Smetzer, Sr., age 72 of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Wednesday April 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Burial will take place in Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ohio. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John was born April 5, 1945 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the son of Hiram and Gladys (Bevington) Smetzer. On June 20, 1964 he married Rose Ellen Woodring, she survives.
John previously worked for Snyder's Kitchen and also Wooster Iron and Metal. He was a member of Wooster Burbank Road Church of Christ. John enjoyed woodworking, loved spending time with his grandchildren and had a sense of humor like no other.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years are four children, John Jr. (Carmen) Smetzer of Frisco, Texas, Michael (Carla) Smetzer of Marengo, Ohio, Jacqueline (James Q.) Miller of Millersburg, Ohio and Tracy E. Wooley of Wooster, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Joshua (Jamie) Smetzer, Sarah (Caleb) Liggin, Russell Smetzer, Jessica (Sean) Ramey, Thomas Jr. "TJ" Hart, Cory James Miller, Travis Michael Miller, Brittney (Luke) Fair, Joel Boyer, Kimmy Miller (Steven Yettke) and Alicia Miller (Matt Buckridge); 9 great grandchildren soon to be 10; three brothers, Hiram Smetzer Jr., Thomas Lee Smetzer and Roy (Judy) Smetzer; and two sisters, Evelyn Barnes and Gloria Smetzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the rest of his siblings.
