Hazel Young, age 75, of Glenmont, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
Hazel was born on October 21, 1941 in Marshallville, Ohio to the late Lloyd H. and Helen (Messner) Schlauch. Her family moved to Holmes County in 1948. She graduated in 1959 from Nashville High School. On April 14, 1962 she married John M. Young Jr., who survives. In 1971 they built their home on 43 acres of John's Family Farm.
Hazel retired in 2006 from Ohio State University Extension in Millersburg with 26 years of service. She enjoyed working in her lawn and spending time with her grandchildren. She had many compliments in the spring when her flowering crabtrees and redbuds were in bloom.
She will be greatly missed by her husband and their three sons, Michael (Michelle) Young of Wooster, Kevin (Connie) Young of Big Prairie and Brett (Becky) Young of Arizona; six grandchildren, Christopher (Kim), Brandon (Jennifer), Courtney, Alex, Brooke and Darin; five great-grandchildren, Paige, Aubree Jo, Cameron, Zyler and Noah; brothers, Harry (Judy) Schlauch and David Schlauch; and three sisters, Bette (Wayne) Barnes, Edith (Bob) Moser and Beverly (Jim) Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd Schlauch  and Carl Schlauch; and a sister, Harriet Brumme.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Larry Carnes officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ohio. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the services on Friday.
