Frances Marie House, age 97, of Killbuck, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
She was born January 8, 1920 in Holmes County and she was the daughter of George and Alta (Lahm) Patterson. She graduated from Killbuck High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1937. In 1943 she traveled by train to Arizona where she married her high school sweetheart, Robert House on October 15th. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1990.
Surviving are children, Beth (Rich) Busche of Smithville, Tom House of Killbuck, Rosemary (Ray) Peters of Smithville, and Vickie (Brent) Close of Killbuck; grandchildren, Kevin Guthrie of Coos Bay, Oregon, Keith Guthrie of Thibodaux , Louisiana, Heather (Kevin) Fath of Smithville, Megan (Ryan) Turpin of Orrville, Greg Peters of Smithville, Vince (Morgan) Close of Bozeman, Montana and Adam (Ashley) Close of New Albany; and great grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Carter and Taryn Fath, Malayna and Mackenzie Turpin, and Amelia and Hayes Close.
Frances was employed as a key punch operator for Nickel Plate Railroad in The Terminal Tower in Cleveland. She was a clerk at the Post Office in Killbuck for many years. She was a lifetime member of Killbuck United Methodist Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, and in WSCS/UMC. She was a member of Killbuck Valley Garden Club, Holmes County Gideon's Auxillary and Phi Sigma Gamma Sorority. She was an accomplished seamstress and known for her beautiful flowers and arrangements, both of which she shared with others.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Patterson; and sisters, Bessie Geiselman, Pauline Engel and Ruth Booth.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday, June 2nd at Killbuck United Methodist Church, 410 N. Main St., Killbuck, Ohio with Pastors Kenneth Smailes and Kevin Fath officiating. Burial will take place at Killbuck Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, prior to the services at the church.  Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.
